cellZscope

Automated cell monitoring system

How are your cells today? cellZscope allows you to automatically measure the impedance of barrier-forming cell cultures. This makes cellZscope ideally suited for quality control of cell lines or for studying the influence of drugs or toxins on the barrier function of cell layers.

Consistent data always
Remove user to user variability

Maximum flexibility
As throughput increases you can seamlessly change from 6 to 96 inserts for simultaneous readout

Effortless cleaning
Autoclavable components keep operating costs to a minimum

Multi frequency data acquisition
Full data integrity for TER and capacitance of cell layers in real time

Compact and Modular Design
Place the system in your incubator or hypoxia workstation

Intuitive software
Walk-away data generation. Read-out scheduling is defined by the user

The cellZscope is available in 4 models depending on your budget, throughput and application needs:

cellZscope E: Our entry level model with 6 individual wells allowing measurement of TER every hour. Fully upgradable to cellZscope+

cellZscope+: 24 individual wells allowing measurement of TER and Ccl every 20 minutes. Easy to use and maintain without the need for tools

cellZscope 2: 24 individual wells allowing measurement of TER and Ccl every 5 minutes. Exceptionally easy to use during experiments thanks to the Docking Station

cellZscope 3: High-end model with up to 96 individual wells per controller. Full spectral information available due to the 30 second time resolution

cellZscope systems measure the impedance of barrier-forming cell cultures. Specifically, the transepithelial / transendothelial resistance (TER) and the capacitance (Ccl) are monitored automatically over days and weeks on up to 24 individual cell cultures held under physiological conditions. These and other features have made the cellZscope the ideal tool for observing the confluence of cell layers and studying the influence of biologically active compounds on the barrier function.

cellZscope How it Works Technical Note

With its innovative design the cellZscope offers full compatibility with standard cell culture inserts from all major manufacturers, like Corning Transwell / Falcon, Greiner Bio-One ThinCert, and Millipore Millicell.

Crucially, cellZscope removes user variability by employing continuous monitoring from a walk away system.

cellZscope Model Range Technical Note

The cellZscope is compatible with various multi-well formats up to 96 wells. Each format requires its own measuring chamber, but the concept of the design is the same as described above. By reducing the number of data points per spectrum or the frequency range that is used for analysis, the time resolution can be improved to allow meaningful kinetic experiments even in 96-well format. The device can be used to automatically monitor the time course of TER, in experiments that run for several days, and may serve as a valuable tool in all studies addressing epithelial or endothelial cell biology or pharmacology.
