EM-Tec geological thin section and slide holders
EM-Tec geological thin section or petrographic slide holders are especially designed to securely hold geological thin sections on petrographic slides for imaging and analysis with an SEM, EPMA or specially configured mineral analysers. They are used for SEM/EDS imaging and analysis in geology, mineralogy and petrography. EM-Tec thin section holders are compatible with petrographic slides sizes of 28 x 48mm, 27 x 46mm, 26 x46mm and 25 x 45mm. We offer two types of geological thin section holders:
- Geological thin section holders and slide holders with S-Clips
- Referenc-type geological thin section holders with a reference edge
Geological thin section holders and slide holders with S-Clips
Universal EM-Tec thin section holders are compatible with petrographic slides measuring up to 28 x 48mm, which enables tuse of the most popular petrographic slide sizes up to 28 x 48mm. They are intended for SEM/EDS work.
Geological slide holders with S-Clips comprise one or more pockets of 48 x 28x1mm with slots and grooves to facilitate loading/unloading of the thin sections on slides with tweezers. The petrographic slides are securely held at the edges by two small S-clips. Due to the open design on two sides, non-standard or larger glass microscope slides up to 50 x 75mm can be held as well. The three available EM-Tec geological thin section and slide holders are:
- EM-Tec G0 universal thin section slide holder for a single slide
- EM-Tec G2.0 universal petrographic slide holder for two slides
- EM-Tec G4.0 universal petrographic slide holder for four slides
Reference type geological thin section holders with a top reference edge
In the reference type holder for the petrographic slides, the slides are pushed against a top reference edge to get a defined height. These holders are intended for SEM/EDS, SEM/WDS and even EPMA work. They are compatible with petrographic slides from 45x30mm to 48x28mm.
The petrographic slides need to be loaded from the side and are pushed against the reference edge with a spring; they are held by spring tension. The opening of the holder is 40mm wide. There are two types of Reference holders for geological thin sections on petrographic slides:
- EM-Tec RG2 twin petrographic slide top reference holder for two up to 48 x 28mm slides
- EM-Tec RG4 four petrographic slide top reference holder for four up to 48 x 28mm slides
All EM-Tec petrographic slide section holders are available with a standard 3.2mm pin, with an M4 threaded hole or with a Ø14mm stub for JEOL SEM stage adaptors with a 14mm connection. See this link for stage adaptors.
